Contacting our Peace Library

The Centre for Conflict Resolution is housed in the Old Medical School of the Hiddingh Hall Campus of the University of Cape Town, as shown on this map. The campus is located in the suburb of Gardens. When walking from the city centre, the campus is at the top of Government Avenue in the Company Gardens, accessible through the security gate to Bertram House. The entrance for vehicles is at the T-junction intersection of Rheede and Orange Streets.

The Peace Library is open to researchers at the Centre, as well as Centre staff, clients, faculty and students and the general public. Find out more about our services

The Centre for Conflict Resolution

The Centre for Conflict Resolution (CCR) was founded by the University of Cape Town in 1968 as an independent non-profit organisation. It was previously known as Centre for Intergroup Studies. It is based in the Western Cape and works nationally and elswhere in Africa to fulfill its mission:

to contribute towards a just and sustainable peace in South Africa and other African countries by promoting constructive, creative and co-operative approaches to the resolution of conflict and the reduction of violence.
